The purpose of this program is to provide the training, education, and hands on experience of a program director at a yoga facility.

 At this time Yoga Mandir does not have a separate yoga teacher's training program. Instead teacher training has been integrated into the program director's training. Depending on an individual's teaching experience they can opt to test out of yoga teaching portion of the overall training program. In this manner the director's training program can be taken by applicants with varying degrees of teaching experience, i.e. very little to a great deal.

This training program is for persons interested in working at Yoga Mandir as well as for people interested in leaning to run their own participatory organization or program. The training will be sufficiently flexible to accommodate the participant's work objective.

Openings for this program are limited and based on resources and needs at Yoga Mandir. Contact staff personnel for current status of openings.

Acceptance in the program is based on a review of an individual's educational background, experience, interests, character and depth of humility.

Tuition for the program is deferred in exchange for service. Trainees may be expected to incur out-of-pocket expenses to cover training materials, travel costs (Residential Program.) A detailed breakdown of possible costs will be provided.

Financial aide in the form of stipends and /or loans might be available depending on 1) availability of funds, and 2) applicant's need. For further information about this contact the current program administrator.

In the event that the applicant is an established teacher with an existing following some basis for remuneration will be negotiated.

Enjoying selfless service is the practice of setting aside all expectation of emotional return for one's actions and just having fun in the moment.

Involvement in this program requires humility and the understanding that it is humility the gives one strength to overcome the little self (ego.)

employment as a program director

After completion of the training program an applicant may be offered full time employment as a program-director/teacher at Yoga Mandir. While this is not a guarantee of employment every effort will be made to keep applicants informed as to the possibility of permanent placement throughout their internship. Program applicants are free to take what they learn at Yoga Mandir and start their own centers or teaching practice elsewhere. The possibility of working with Yoga Mandir on a selective basis also exists i.e. conducting workshops or retreats. While we can not make promises there are many possibilities and we look forward to pursuing them creatively.

If you become a full-time member of Yoga Mandir's staff the monthly salary is approximately $4,000 a month plus full medical, dental, vacation pay, child allowance, and pension. As per the guidelines of a participatory work place remuneration is based on sacrifice not hierarchy. In other words, everybody that works full time gets paid the same.
